The State College Spikes continued their winning ways, grabbing their fourth straight victory by defeating the Jamestown Jammers 4-3 in 10 innings in come-from-behind fashion.

Homeruns in each the top of the ninth and tenth inning by Daniel Rios and Keanon Simon were the difference as with the win, the Spikes improved their record to 6-5, getting above .500 for the first time this year, and also assuring themselves a winning road trip.

Simon powers Spikes

Keanon Simon homered in the top of the 10th inning to lift State College to a 4-3 triumph over Jamestown on Friday.

With one out in the 10th, Simon sent a shot over the right-field fence for his first homer of the season. The 22-year-old left fielder went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Spikes Offense Continues to Roll

The State College Spikes (5-5) beat the Jamestown Jammers by the count of 10-5 on Thursday night to push their winning streak to three games. In those three games the Spikes have scored 26 runs and pounded out 49 hits. Tonight, it was Matt Cavagnaro who led the charge for the Spikes, going 4-for-6 with a home run and three RBI.

Lack Of Timely Hitting Leads To Jammers’ Loss

6/29/2007 – The State College Spikes scored eight runs in the first five innings and cruised to a 10-5 New York-Penn League win over the Jamestown Jammers on Thursday night at Diethrick Park.

The Jammers collected 13 hits off four State College pitchers, but they were well spread out and didn’t cause many problems for the visitors, who picked up 16 hits.

Christian Castorri promoted to Hickory Crawdads

Right-handed pitcher Christian Castorri became the first Spikes player to be promoted this season. Castorri, who was 0-0 with a 1.59 ERA in three games, was moved up to the full-season Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — State College’s Mike Cavagnaro had his best game yet of his young professional baseball career.

The former Penn State infielder collected four hits and belted his first career home run as the Spikes dumped the Jamestown Jammers 10-5 Thursday night at Russel Diethrick Park.

State College has been on an offensive roll to extend its win streak to three games, collecting 26 runs and 49 hits over the stretch and matching a season and franchise-high for runs in a game.
