The Spikes banged out two triples and four doubles to take their second consecutive win over the division leading Auburn Doubledays 6-2.. Justin Byler and Austin McClune had the triples while Matt Cavagnaro, Erik Huber, Marcus Davis, and Miles Durham came through with the two baggers.
Moises Robles (2-7) got the win which moved the Spikes to within 3.5 of Auburn in the Pinckney Division of the NY Penn League.
The Spikes bats woke up from a week long slumber with eight runs and 12 hits in last evening’s 8-4 win over Auburn. Tonight Moises Robles will look to make it two in a row at 7:05 p.m.STATE COLLEGE
STARTER: RHP MOISES ROBLES will make his ninth start of the season when he toes the rubber for State College this evening. Robles has a decision in all of his previous appearances and has been tagged with the loss in his last five outings. In 44.2 innings of work this season, the opposition is hitting .297 against Robles. In five starts on the road, Robles is 1-4 with a 4.23 ERA. In 26.0 innings of work, he has allowed 15 earned runs on 32 hits while walking four and striking out 17. Robles has lost his last five decisions, including his last start on July 28th against Auburn. Robles allowed only one run on five hits over 6.1 innings of work. Robles was selected in the Rule 5 Draft in 2007 from the New York Mets. In 2006 with the DSL Mets, Robles posted a 1-2 record with a 0.60 ERA over his 30.0 innings of work. He allowed only two earned runs on 23 hits while walking six and striking out 28.

AUBURN, N.Y. — The team that couldn’t record an extra-base hit Wednesday evolved into a quick-strike offense Thursday.
The State College Spikes recorded six extra-base hits, including two home runs, to defeat first-place Auburn 8-4 at Falcon Park. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak and moved the Spikes (20-22) to 41/2 games behind Auburn (25-18) in the Pinckney Division standings.

The Spikes had their best offensive performance in nearly a month as they beat the Doubledays 8-4 on Thursday evening. Nick Stillwagon hit his second home run of the season to get the offense going.
AUBURN, NY – After scoring only five runs in their three straight losses to the Scrappers, the Spikes had their best offensive performance in nearly a month as they beat the Auburn Doubeldays 8-3 on Thursday evening. The 12 hits and eight runs scored were the most for the Spikes since a 9-3 victory over the Batavia Muckdogs on July 3rd. . Duke Welker (2-1) got the win for the Spikes after tossing five shutout innings, allowing only two hits while striking out five.

Duke Welker tossed five scoreless innings and Nicholas Stillwagon and Justin Byler homered as visiting State College dropped Auburn, 8-4, on Thursday.
Welker (2-1) scattered two hits and fanned five without walking a batter. The 21-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.10 over 25 2/3 innings.
Stillwagon hit a two-run shot, his second, in the fourth inning, and Justin Byler cracked a solo blast, his third, in the fifth. Miles Durham, who finished a home run shy of the cycle, and Stillwagon each scored twice for the Spikes (20-22), who ripped 12 hits and snapped a three-game losing streak.
Adam Calderone smacked a two-run homer, his sixth, in the sixth for the Doubledays (25-18).

It was a different night and a different location. The change was exactly what the State College Spikes needed.
The Spikes battled a different opponent in the Auburn Doubledays. The lineup was even shuffled around a bit.
These switches ended up being factors in sparking a slumping State College team who ended its three-game losing streak last night, defeating the Doubledays, 8-4.
