Watson, the Pirates’ 9th round draft choice in 2007 will look to rebound from his first loss of as a professional last time out against Mahoning Valley . AUBURN – The blast came too little, too late. By the time Shawn Scobee earned his third home run of the season, in the bottom of the ninth, an Auburn Doubledays comeback seemed out of reach.
As the bottom of the lineup retired in order, the door officially closed on the game and, nearly, the series as State College won its second straight game over Auburn 6-2 at Falcon Park on Friday.

From CDT staff reports
AUBURN, N.Y. — State College pitcher Moises Robles hasn’t had a lot of luck this season as his 1-7 record entering Friday’s game at Auburn attests.
After walking the first two batters against the Pinckney Division leading Doubledays, it didn’t look like Robles’ luck had changed much, but the right-hander rebounded to turn in his best effort of the season.
Robles allowed just one hit in five shutout innings as he lead the Spikes to a 6-2 victory over Auburn at Falcon Park. State College (21-22) won its second straight against Auburn (25-19) to pull within 31/2 games of the Doubledays.

Matt Cavagnaro is having a professional debut season that is hard to match.
After all, few pro players begin their career by packing up their gear in one clubhouse and moving it to another clubhouse about 100 feet down the hallway.
That is what the second baseman has done this summer after being selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 21st round of the first-year player draft from Penn State. Cavagnaro is playing for short season Class A State College, and the Spikes of the New-York Penn League share Medlar Field at Lubrano Park with the Nittany Lions baseball team.
