Williamsport recalls potato play mastermind
11 08 2007One of minor league baseball’s notorious players will be honored next week at historic Bowman Field in Williamsport.
Hall of Famers Nolan Ryan and Bill Mazeroski played in Williamsport. Sorry, it’s neither of them.
Major league sluggers Jim Rice and Richie (Dick) Allen also played in Williamsport. Sorry, again.

Spikes win wild affair
11 08 2007TROY, N.Y. — The State College Spikes saw a 6-0 eighth-inning lead evaporate but held on to take the series opener from the Tri-City ValleyCats Friday night, 7-6.
Bobby Spain, who went 3-for-5 on the evening with three RBI, drove home the winning run for the Spikes in their final at bat in the top of the ninth.
