Spikes earn first win of season in twinbill split

23 06 2007

WILLIAMSPORT — Remember Tyler Norrick?

Yes, that Tyler Norrick, the pitcher who never played a game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

His tenure with the State College Spikes ended after a nine-strikeout performance during his professional debut last June 21 against the Williamsport Crosscutters at Bowman Field.

Anybody reading this story can only hope the most recent left-hander from the Midwest who started his professional career with a dazzling June 21 outing at Bowman Field sticks around longer.

Jamestown jams Spikes’ efforts

23 06 2007

UNIVERSITY PARK — The State College Spikes emptied their bullpen Friday with pitchers making professional debuts.

As for the Nookie Monster, the creature that lurks behind the left-center field wall and only leaves when the Spikes score, his debut didn’t come until the waning stages of the second home game.

The Spikes’ offense once again sputtered as it recorded five hits during a 5-1 loss to Jamestown before 4,008 fans at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
